New Home! We have moved! Welcome to Mie, Web-Wise in its new home, new clothing, and a lot more that's new! (We're now hosted by Portland Communications.) In other words, if you have previously given me the priviledge of your company, while I have been working on getting this site ready, then please take a good look around! You'll find that this web site has grown and become better organized, as well, during the time in which it was apparently hybernating on line. I hope you will enjoy all the new additions and changes, and will honor me with your company other times! Though now officially open and no longer bearing an "under construction" label, this site is presently in the process of adjusting itself to the "change of residence." This means that there are small details being worked out here and there, as well as a few pages undergoing final revision in order to be uploaded. During this concluding process of "putting the new home in good order," I will greatly appreciate your letting me know if you miss anything, or if you find any detail that does not work as expected (a broken link, a typo, a dead button, etc.). Other than that, as always I'll greatly appreciate geting any feedback from you! Now, before you get busy looking around, let me just mention that this web site has "officially" extended itself beyond the http://www.mienet.net virtual address: an offspring, or continuation, of the pages you can enjoy here is being hosted at http://www.mienet.net, also by Portland Communications. On this web site, which focuses on language and communication, one can find alternative perspectives regarding the language and communication realms, in addition to what's traditional in these areas. Besides the free Language HelpDesk service already mentioned above, there is more that is freely available on line, which you could possibly enjoy. Happy New Year! Although 2000 is not yet the official start of the New Millennium, I'm in addition antecipating my warmest wishes to you for a very Happy Millennium ahead! From a technical viewpoint, the year 2000 is actually the closing of the 2^nd Millennium (see the Section on Calendars on this site). This does not prevent me, however, from already offering you my warmest Greetings and wishes for the coming 3^rd Millenium, throughout the year that closes the 2^nd Millennium!:)

New book on the market! Yes! It is a book resulting from research work that plunged deeply into the dynamics of dealing with, as well as teaching/learning, music. This piece of work, it should be added, stands in harmonious compliance with the modern scientific paradigm, thus transcending in many degrees what might be referred to as musical tradition. The author is Moema Craveiro Campos, Brazilian pianist--in truth, a musician in every sense of the word (recitals, teaching, researching, now author). Further news regarding this relevant piece of work will be posted on the NewsBoard at Mie's NetScope: Music & Fun. (The book is presently available only in Portuguese, but plans for translation are underway).

Though younger, this second home page can offer you something complementary to what you find here. On Mie's NetScope: Music & Fun you can find a variety of items related to music: songs, articles, quotes, links, news, special lyrics, etc. In addition, a section on Brazilian music & rhythm is being developed to go on air as soon as time allows me. Besides this, quite a bit on my own music, performances and recordings (including tips for downloading songs) is being put up, as well as images and other pertinent information. Except for the articles related to music, some of which exhibiting a more, or less, academic nature, Mie's NetScope: Music & Fun is meant to be of a lighter character than its mother-page, a place, in short, for a bit of joyful relaxation and fun. Thus, you also find there a humor section (including daily renovated jokes and cartoons), links to a number of TV stations on the Web, mind-tickling cyber-games, and a section where a variety of interesting/fun curiosities on Time are available. If you enjoy Formula One car racing, you will be happy to see that this page keeps an updated race-by-race overview of the 2000 F1 Season, in addition to offering a feature that might turn out to be quite unique on the Web: a list of commented F1-related links, which provides the reader an idea of what to count on finding at the many web sites dealing with this sport. Other than these features, on that page you can also access many search engines, whether individually or combined, to search the web. Dynamic as both life and the Net are, Mie's NetScope: Music & Fun could not be different: there will always be something new underway.
