First Words
The pages in this Section showcase some of the nicest pages and sites, among all Members of MieNet's Rings!
Please feel free to browse around and visit the pages which MieNet's Ring Members have submitted specially for this section.
Or you may choose to visit MieNet's Rings Home, for an overview of all Rings and their respective Member pages and sites.
In case you are curious as to why MieNet's managed Rings...the reason is quite simple:
These Rings are directly related to content on MieNet and/or to some of my additional personal or professional interests. (I'm still missing a Music Ring, and a couple more – but these will of course come, as time allows me.)
MieNet's Rings are not and will not be many, as my interest lies rather in enjoying each of them, than ending up with a large collection. So, each of these Rings is managed by hand (complementary info here), and I greatly enjoy visiting all member sites. Try navigating one or more of the Rings, and I bet you will, too!
I have also been asked about the number of Rings dedicated to celebrations (five), among MieNet's Rings. There are two reasons for this:
MieNet initially grew out of a small music site, a small Formula1 site, a small fun site, and two small celebration sites: Celebrate Friendship and Celebrate Humanity. You can still find all of them here, obviously updated and added to, as compared to the original pages. Please feel free to check MieNet's Menu.
I find Khrishnamurti's words wise, when he argues that there is much waste of energy and little success in fighting against anything; that it is far more productive and effective to work on substituting, instead, that which is unwished (idea, habit, etc.) with something that is considered constructive, profitable, or whatever the case.
Khrishnamurti's argument goes that in the fighting against, we are actually focusing on that which is unwished; thus empowering it. Whereas when substituting, we are defocusing from it (i.e., drawing attention away from it); thus weakening it.
Holidays and Celebrations are usually happy occasions, which catalyze in people a wish to be glad, to have a pleasant time, to help others have a pleasant time, etc. Though of course not always, we tend to bring and offer some of the best in ourselves at these times.
So, these Rings, in addition to the fact that they are lovely, greatly enjoyable Rings, constitute my two-cents contribution toward a more considerate and humane Human Society, than the easy violence against Human Beings and apparent little realization that the person across the street is a Human Being just like you and me, which more and more seem to be less the exception than what we might get on the daily news.
Even if Khrishnamurti can be proven mistaken, if we celebrate more, find more to celebrate, and therefore spend more time celebrating, there will be less time for unkindness, lack of Human respect, and violence against other fellow-Human Beings.
One last remark: MieNet derives no revenue from any Web Ring activity. There is, in fact, no $ involved or exchanged, whether in the running of these Rings or in Ring membership, itself.
There are beautiful and interesting pages for you to enjoy, and invite your friends to enjoy, too! All Rings are free to surf!
