2005 F1 Drivers' Championship, according to old points system
Below, you can see what the 2005 drivers' championship would look like, if we still went by the old points system. The actual Drivers' Championship 2005 is of course also available (to see it, just click the link).
In 2003 F1 changed its points system, in part, in an attempt to facilitate the job of attempting to catch up with Michael Schumacher, who had been piling win over win...
Curiously, in the old points system, the current (2005) championship would still be open. It would thus be more interesting than the last two races, in Asia, will now be, as the natural excitement and expectation brought about by a championship fight have of course now waned.
But we can add a bit of interest to the closing races, by accompanying below if Alonso's World Title gets confirmed by the old rules, which of course have no more say in today's F1. This is obviously just for the sake of curiosity...but why not?
