The FIA is the organizing and ruling body for the Formula One Championships, the team members of which must also comply with the Formula One Technical Regulations in order to participate. These regulations, basically concerned with speed, technology and safety, aim as well at a sensible balance, within the context of a sport known for its risks, which the regulations are obviously focused on reducing to a minimum.
Concerned specially with the commercial aspects of the Championship, at the closing of the 2002 Season, the FIA Formula One Commission issued a series of new rules to be effective from 2003 on.
