The pages Drivers-Comparison and Constructors-Comparison exhibit fictional results for 2002, based on the new points system, in contrast with the actual results for the 2002 Season (the former appearing on the right column, whereas the latter on the left column).
For a detailed impression of the difference that the new rules might make, as far as the points tally, please compare the table on What if 2002... to the table on Season Statistics, .
On the Drivers-Comparison page, the fictional results on the right reflect as well the team orders ban just decreed for 2003 and subsequent championships. That is to say, the three known results fabricated beyond the realms of true competition in 2002 were rightfully reversed before the fictional points were added, so that these points were assigned to the drivers who would have indeed earned and deserved them.
These three results, marked in blue on What if 2002..., comprise Ferrari's 1-2 in both the Austrian GP and the American GP, as well as Sauber's 6-7 in the German GP.
For ease of reference, the gray middle column in the tables on both Drivers-Comparison and Constructors-Comparison marks which results would have remained pretty equivalent and which would have changed significantly. Additionally, a color system has been used in order to facilitate comparing the different final positions for drivers/teams that would have moved up or down, had the new rules been in force during the 2002 Season.
A historical overview of the five points systems used in F1 racing to date is charted on the page All Points Systems, whereas Points+Article 26 offers a detailed comparison between the systems in force in 2002 and 2003, in addition to reference to 'Article 26' of the Formula One World Championship Sporting Regulations. This Article is instrumental in determining the final standings for drivers and teams that may end the season with the same number of points.
The following pages in the current section offer, in turn, pertinent details and considerations, which should be handy for deriving a more concrete impression of what to expect of the 2003 Season under the new rules, in contrast to the standards we are currently used to.
